Reduce Fear and Anxiety; Get Grounded

The root chakra is an energy center located at the base of your spine. This energy center is associated with our feelings of safety and security. Physically associated with legs, feet, bones, large intestine, and spinal column. The emotional issues that can arise when the root chakra is out of balance include: anxiety, fear, lack of motivation, overwhelm, and restlessness. The physical manifestations can look like eating disorders, digestive problems, knee problems, and arthritis.

Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and relax. Bring your awareness down to the base of your spine. Visualize a red, glowing, ball of energy and say hello to your first chakra. Now visualize a cord extending from this chakra, down through the chair you are sitting in, the floor, and all the layers of the Earth until it reaches the very center, where it plugs into Mother Nature's recycling plant. Some of my favorite cords include a flower stem, a beam of light, a tree trunk, and a waterfall. You are now grounded and connected to the Earth. Begin at the top of your head and scan your body, all the way down to the tips of your toes (don't forget the arm channels), looking for any heavy, or dark energy that may be stuck. With the power of your intention watch this old energy move down and out of your body through your grounding cord being sent all the way to the center of the Earth. Continue releasing until you feel lighter. Finally visualize a waterfall of white light streaming down from the cosmos and refilling your body with pure, healing energy.

I am grounded, stable, and standing on my own two feet. I nurture my body with healthy food, clean water, exercise, relaxation, and connection with nature. I am open to possibilities. I am grateful for all the challenges that helped me to grow and transform. I trust in the goodness of life. I make choice that are healthy and good for me. I trust myself. I love life.

Essential Oils:

The use of essential oils is especially helpful for the first chakra since it is a body level energy and the body's sense of smell is connected to this chakra. Adding a tangible element to spiritual work can promote the integration of body and spirit. Some oils that support balancing the root chakra: Ginger, Cypress, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Patchouli, Frankincense, Cedarwood, Cinnamon.

Apply this solution to the base of your spine, and bottoms of your feet. Apply a small amount to the palms of your hands, rub together, and inhale deeply until you begin to feel grounded.
